Did you know the service of direct-mail was started by Benjamin Franklin?
So far we have completed the sorting, counting and grouping of the mail.
In our sample we had about 900 pieces!! Great job so far!
The next few days we are analyzing the data!
In Math we will be doing some real world word problems, probability problems and creating graphs showing the different types of data we collected.
In Science we will analyze the weight, number of pieces, categories, and environmental impacts. We will also be discussing the conclusion write up on kidblog. (GO CHECK IT OUT www.kigblog.org) It will be listed under the math section!

About the Project
With recent trends of going green, junk mail seems to be an unnecessary waste that in many cases is over-looked. However, the impact of junk mail is tremendous. This project will allow our students to investigate the reality behind it's impact, while using their science inquiry and mathematical analysis skills!
